Aldis
Vintage classic 1950's Airstream design Aldis projector, upcycled, decommissioned and repurposed into a stylish dual lamp. It can no longer be used as a projector.
The lamp is 27cm wide by 27 cm high by 17cm deep
This product uses the many apertures to leak light into its environment. The unit comes with two different bulbs. The remote-controlled colour bulb sheds patterned light through the lower fan grille and can can select a colour or colour-changing sequence. The warm white bulb projects its light through the adjustable lens, the top and side vents.
The company founded as "Aldis Brothers" in 1937 by Mr. Aldis and Mr. Smith in Birmingham, known for making remarkably high-quality projector lenses, the Aldis Brothers merged with Rank in 1951 to form Rank Aldis
The fan assembly below has been removed, the unit has been rebuilt and the electrics mainly replaced and extended to support a further remote-controlled bulb.
Whilst working on this product, we discovered a colour slide within. Only the purchaser will see this beautiful wonder.
The projector bulb has been replaced with a contemporary "corn" LED bulb which is bright but runs fairly cool.
The new 1.25 metre racing green 3-core classic traditional fabric cable comes from Florence and the 13Amp plug is the original vintage bakelite plug that came with the unit.
