Blueberry Pye

Unusual steampunk Bluetooth speaker and lamp, made from an original vintage Pye valve radio receiver, originally manufactured in Cambridge about seventy years ago.

This artwork also includes up-cycled and re purposed components.

A Bluetooth subsystem is installed beneath the newly replaced speaker cloth. When this has been switched on, the speaker changed colour within, and can be simply paired to a mobile phone or other Bluetooth audio source. This can be switched by a recessed switch on the right side. Pair with "X8"

Two vintage thermionic valves flicker on top. Also on top are two flexible black aerials.

Two gold taps protrude the front. By touching the Cold tap on the left, the E27 Edison bulb on the top can be dimmed.

On the left side there is what appears to be a rusty water tap with a flickering E14 candle bulb beneath. This can be switched by a recessed switch on the same side.

On the lower front is the original glass tuning panel, which is illuminated.

On the lower right side is a recessed illuminated blue USB charger which has a blue digital voltmeter that monitors the internal power supply.

A blue glow emanates from underneath from a re-purposed car mirror indicator.

All electrics and electronics are new. There are five electronic modules within including the linear-mode power supply, lower lamp electronics, lamp touch dimmer, Bluetooth system electronics, USB charger and USB Voltmeter.  The appliance is Class I as defined in IEC 61140 and has been tested. The traditional green fabric double insulated 3 core 1.4 metre cable is terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363.

This artwork is 52 cm high X 49 cm wide X 26 cm deep.
