California Dreamin’

A tin, with the image of a VW camper wagon, has been converted to a unique hand-built steampunk dimmable lamp, with manometer and illuminated USB charging port.

This artwork has a rotary ‘skull and crossbones’ switch/dimmer and an Edison-style E27 bulb to brighten the corners of your bothy. It has been fitted with rubber feet (not your bothy). The product is about 26cm wide, 35 cm high and 15 cm deep.

On the left side green bubbles flicker, above which resides an upcycled manometer (pressure gauge) has a scale of 30 lb/sq in. Normally this will read zero.

To its right it has a green illuminated USB charger port, itself powered by a stabilised power supply. Rubber feet have been added to the base.

The 10mm copper piping has brass fittings that are compression type with copper olives (not the type in a Martini, shaken not stirred).

On the right-hand side is an upcycled candy container of the Dark Lord. I sense something. A presence I have not felt since….

All electrics and electronics are new. The lamp appliance is Class I as defined in IEC 61140 and has been tested. The burgundy fabric double insulated 3 core 1.6 metre cable includes an in-line black traditional Torpedo 6-amp rocker switch, which disconnects both the Live and Neutral, and complies with BS EN 6108-2-1.  This cable is terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363.  The other end is terminated with a black IP68 compression TRS M12 cable stuffing gland. Really, we didn’t just make that up.
