Ghost
A Skymaster “Ghost” High Speed Pigeon Racing clock, serial number A3916, converted to a steampunk dimmable lamp with a red warm inner glow.
It is hard to believe that some of the United Kingdom’s 100,000 pigeon racers were cheats. Skymaster developed the “Ghost” to foil this, integrating a 7-jewelled platform escapement movement with a paper tape printer. Although these mechanisms have been removed to house the electronics and electrics, you’ll see that each glass window has the same unique identification engraved, to help prevent cheating.
The converted artwork now has a rotary skull-and-crossbones switch/dimmer and an Edison-style E27 bulb to brighten the corners of your bothy. Another E14 SES bulb inside provides a warm glow. The box has been fitted with rubber feet and is about 11cm high X 12cm wide X 19cm deep. A power switch has been added to the right hand side.
The red vintage 2 core 1.6 metre cable includes is terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363, and is fitted with a 1 amp fuse. An additional spare fuse is included. The other end is terminated with a black IP68 compression TRS M12 cable stuffing gland. Really, we didn’t just make that up.
