Granny Kenny
Unusual steampunk Grandmother clock, made from vintage and upcycled components including a vintage Grandmother clock case, a vintage Rototherm brass stem thermometer, a large vintage brass altimeter, a vintage bakelite military voltmeter, cast brass plaque from a canal barge, pulleys from an American tractor, a "Hot" gold basin tap, an original "Kenny" from "South Park", a gate valve, a car indicator and a speaker grille and bezel.
There is an Edison bulb in a cage at the top, which is dimmed by touching the gold tap at the front.
At the centre of the clock face is a valve mono-clock which glows and pulses the time. The clock face lacks a glass. The clock is initially set by a pair of brass push buttons mounted on copper rings. When powered off, the clock maintains the time. Below that is a vintage bakelite military voltmeter, probably for a transmitter, that still works. Further down is a cast brass plaque from a canal barge, from Parkhead Locks on the Dudley Canal. Below that is a huge brass altimeter, scaled at 30 pounds per square inch or 70 feet of water.
On the left a large vintage Beeston Boiler Co. Ltd., near Nottingham, Rototherm brass stem thermometer is mounted. This is scaled at 260 degrees Fahrenheit. Below that, an original "Kenny" from "South Park" has a warm glow. Below that is a red-handled gate valve.
At the base a warm glow spreads out from a car mirror indicator.
On the right is a set of three pulleys from an American tractor with a jute belt. Below the top pulley is a recessed mains switch that disconnects the power from the clock.
The product projects an amber glow at the back, in a fine pattern. This is driven by a car mirror indicator solid-state lamp under a speaker grille and bezel.
All electrics and electronics are new. There are three electronic modules within including the switching mode dual power supply, lamp dimmer, candle effect solid state bulb and digital clock electronics. The appliance is Class I as defined in IEC 61140 and has been tested. The traditional gold fabric double insulated 3 core 2.2 metre cable is terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363.
