Murphy A72

Unusual hand-built steampunk full new hi fidelity Bluetooth speaker system, made from an original vintage Murphy A72 valve radio receiver, originally manufactured in Welwyn Garden City over eighty years ago.
This artwork also includes up-cycled and re purposed components.
The illuminated red switch on the right controls all the power to the unit.
A Bluetooth hifi two-speaker subsystem is installed internally, and it still has its original speaker cloth. When left hand switch is activated, the switch the Bluetooth system becomes live and makes a pleasant "ding" to announce its availability for pairing. It can be simply paired to a mobile phone or other Bluetooth audio source. Pair to device HY5066MTWS.
Two vintage thermionic valves flicker on top. These have no functionality.
At the top front is the original glass tuning panel, which is illuminated.
On the front left-of-centre side is a blue USB charger with a built-in clock.
A glow emanates from underneath. This can be controlled in colour and sequence with a remote control, which is provided.
The back has a flickering candle-like lamp that illuminates the wall behind.
All electrics and electronics are new. There are five electronic modules within including the switching power supply, passive crossover system, Bluetooth receiver and amplifier electronics, USB charger and lamp remote control. The appliance is Class II as defined in IEC 61140 and has been tested. The traditional red fabric double insulated 2 core 1.6 metre cable is terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363.
