Unusual steampunk radio, made from vintage British-made radio and recycled or repurposed parts, such as a brass canal barge plaque, cupboard door knobs, vintage thermionic valves with porcelain bases, brass gas tap and two car aerials .
The touch control audio interface allows the user to select FM radio, microSD and USB media sources. A FM aerial wire is deployed from the back. This system produces about 5 watts per channel and also comes with a remote control.
The standard E27 socket will support most E27 lamp types. A small Edison bulb and a candle bulb are illustrated. A separate recessed switch on the right face controls this lamp.
The truck indicators produce a pulsating/rotation amber glow beneath the unit.
Behind the original speaker grille on the left is a lightbox panel with backlighting that changes colour and effect with an included remote control.
Above is the original glass tuning panel, which is illuminated.
On the right side of the tuning panel is a flickering flame, similar to a gas pilot lamp. This effect is provided by an electric candle effect bulb. On the right of the unit is a gas tap.
All electrics and electronics are new. There are five electronic modules within including the linear-mode power supply, lamp electronics, lamp remote control, audio system electronics and audio remote control. The appliance is Class I as defined in IEC 61140 and has been tested. The traditional brown fabric double insulated 3 core 1.2 metre cable is terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363.
