Shattered Dream

This is an original British Thomson-Houstn Co. Ltd. Bakelite speaker, circa 1928, that has been upgraded to a mains-powered Bluetooth speaker. This was acquired some time ago in a broken state. It has since been patched up and converted. It is a relic of a stylish time of Art Deco products in an age of Bakelite.

The unit is switch by a red push button at the top rear of the speaker.

When switched on, the speaker identifies itself as paired (to your phone) and changes colour.

Laing, Wharton and Down was formed in 1886 and in 1926, through amalgamation, became British Thomson-Houstn Co. Ltd

The appliance is Class II as defined in IEC 61140 and has been tested. The cable is a 1.7 metre red twisted fabric double insulated 2-core cable terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363,  and is fitted with a 2 amp fuse.

All electrics and electronics are new.  The cable is terminated with a black IP68 compression TRS M12 cable stuffing gland.
