Unusual hand-built steampunk full new mp3 player, FM radio system and lamp, made from a vintage TeleVet Model 877 Oscilloscope and Frequency Generator, originally built by Airmec Ltd of High Wycombe.
This artwork also includes up-cycled and re purposed components. The original rotary switches serve no function.
On the front upper left, a green "radar-like" display rotates, and is switch by the green "launch" switch to its right.
On the front upper centre is a rotary dimmer switch for the E27 lamp fitting on the top centre. It should be noted that if non-filament bulbs are used, then this control should be set to fully on.
To the front upper right is an illuminated frequency display and control knob.
On the front lower centre is the main control to the mp3 player and FM radio. The touch control audio interface allows the user to select FM radio, microSD and USB media sources. This system produces about 5 watts per channel and also comes with a remote control.
The unit is powered on by the switch on the front middle right.
On the front lower right side is a USB charger with a built-in voltmeter of the internal 12-volt Power Supply.
At the top are two vintage thermionic valves which flicker on top with an amber glow. These have no functionality.
At the front, a blue glow emanates from underneath. At the rear an amber glow is cast. Both of these are from repurposed vehicle indicators.
On the sides are the new speakers and grilles.
Most electrics and electronics are new. The appliance is Class I as defined in IEC 61140 and has been tested. The traditional scarlet fabric double insulated 3 core generous 1.9 metre cable is terminated with a black 13-amp plug, which complies with BS 1363.
The main body of this artwork is 44cm wide by 44cm high by 27cm deep.
